Interprofessional Collaborations: Advancing Wisconsin’s Healthcare and Education

The national AHEC program was established by the U.S. Congress in 1971 to recruit, train and retain a health professions workforce committed to rural and underserved populations.

The Heartbeat of Your Career

Enrich your passion for healthcare through a multi-day experience filled with engaging hands-on activities and exposure to careers across healthcare while connecting you to community, careers, and professionals in the healthcare industry.

AHEC Scholars is a program for health professions students interested in supplementing their education by gaining additional knowledge and experience in rural and/or underserved urban settings. This is a longitudinal program with interdisciplinary curriculum to implement a defined set of clinical, didactic and community-based activities.
